What makes Legacy Jiu-Jitsu Academy different from other martial arts gyms in town?

Legacy is built on more than just training — it’s built on people. We combine high-quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai instruction with a welcoming, beginner-friendly culture where no one is treated like “just a number.” Our coaches focus on strong fundamentals, safe training, and real personal growth, while still holding high standards for respect, discipline, and sportsmanship. Legacy is family-friendly without being watered down, and we pride ourselves on being a clean, professional academy that supports our members on and off the mats — building confidence, connection, and community service as we create our legacy together.

What do I wear for practice?

Muay Thai:

Wear comfortable workout clothes that you can move freely in—athletic shorts/leggings and a t-shirt or tank are perfect. You’ll want full range of motion for punches, kicks, knees, and movement.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi):

You’ll need a gi (uniform). Members are expected to have their own gi, and we also sell team gis in our pro shop at the gym. If you’re on a trial, we’ll provide a loaner gi.

A gi includes a jacket, reinforced pants, and a belt. We require a rash guard or tight-fitting shirt and spandex/compression shorts under your gi for comfort and hygiene.

No-Gi / Submission Grappling:

No-gi attire is a rash guard and fight shorts/board shorts (no zippers or pockets).

Do you offer a trial before committing to membership?

Is Legacy Jiu-Jitsu suitable for complete beginners with no martial arts experience?

Do you have childcare available?

Do you offer discounts for military or first responders?

How should I care for my BJJ gi to keep it clean and lasting longer?

We require that you wash your gi before every class. This helps to prevent infections and makes training much more pleasant for everyone.

First wash: wash separately. After that, wash with like colors.
Settings: cold water, low/medium spin, normal soil.
Drying: air dry only. Avoid the dryer—heat will shrink your gi.
Care: don’t iron prints, logos, or patches.

For extra odor and bacteria control, add 1–2 cups of white vinegar to the wash along with your normal detergent, and use a heavy cycle when needed to help fully clean the fabric.

How do I get started?

Getting started is easy:
